Search and ask questions

Crown has one place to find anything: the command palette. Press ⌘K on Mac or Ctrl+K on Windows, or click the Search button in the top bar. On a phone, tap the magnifying-glass icon at the top of the screen (no keyboard shortcut needed). From the palette you can jump to any page, open any record, or ask Crown a question in plain language.

Finding records

Start typing and Crown searches your batches, recipes, ingredients, products, suppliers, and receipts at once. Results are grouped by type. Type a batch number like FK-HH-25001, a lot code, an ingredient name, or a supplier, then press Enter to open the top result.

Before you type anything, the palette shows your Recently viewed records, so getting back to the batch or recipe you were just working on is one keystroke. Below that, Jump to a page takes you to any area of Crown by name: type "receiving" and press Enter instead of reaching for the menu.

Search matches any part of a name and ignores capitalization: typing "ghost" finds Ghost Pepper Hot Sauce. Spelling and accents do need to match, so if a search comes up empty, check the spelling before concluding the record is missing.

Asking questions

When you want an answer instead of a record, ask the question in the same box and select the Ask CrownQ row, or pick one of the ready-made questions the empty palette suggests under Try asking. The assistant reads your records and Crown's help articles to answer. A few examples of what works well:

Names don't need to be exact when you ask: mention an ingredient, product, or supplier and the assistant matches approximately, so "jalepeno" still finds Jalapeños.

Answers cite their sources. Records the answer draws on appear as buttons underneath it, so you can open the exact batch or ingredient it mentions, and help articles it used are listed under Sources.

Follow-up questions

Each answer opens a conversation. Ask a follow-up in the box at the bottom and the assistant keeps the context: after "What batch was last completed?" you can ask "What ingredients did it contain?" and it knows which batch you mean.

The assistant also knows what page you have open. If you're on a batch page, "Why is this batch still in production?" resolves to that batch without you naming it.

What the assistant can and can't do

The assistant only reads. It looks up your records to answer the question you asked, and it can never create, change, or delete anything. Every lookup is covered by the same access logging as the rest of Crown.

Answers draw on your real records, but treat them as a starting point: verify anything important against the record itself before acting on it. The assistant explains how to use Crown; it does not give regulatory advice.

Plans and limits

Searching and jumping to pages is included on every plan. Asking questions is a Pro feature, and your 30-day trial includes a limited number of questions so you can try it regardless of plan.
